A B Canham & Son is a multi-million pound company responsible for building some of the South East’s most prestigious new home developments.
Construction is about building on solid foundations and it is this principle that has allowed us to continually grow and take on larger, more ambitious projects. Our dedication to quality and craftsmanship over the last 50 years also qualifies us as an NHBC registered builder, achieving Category A1 National Housebuilder status in 2005.
Since our inception in 1974, we have grown to become a ‘whole process’ construction and housebuilding company able to plan, design and build entire developments and villages. We have grown from humble beginnings to become a multi-million pound construction company, with a directly-employed workforce of over 100, an annual turnover in excess of £18 million and assets that include our own extensive fleet of plant machinery.
More than just construction, however, A B Canham & Son has diversified to include project management, design and planning, contracting, plant hire and industrial/commercial refurbishment as areas of specialism. As a result, our clients enjoy an unrivalled level of consistency and confidence when embarking on relationship with us.

The environment we have created in our Tonbridge office and across our sites has led to many generations of one family joining – and staying – with us, very much in the same way Michael Canham followed in his father Alan’s footsteps in 1982.

Our History
It is hard to believe that A B Canham was founded back in 1974 with just £75, given the scale and value of the projects it now completes. Alan Canham carved a reputation for meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship in the 1970s, when he undertook modest extensions and decorating jobs.
Our Team
Whether our staff wear a shirt and tie or a hard hat and hi vis, they all have one thing in common – loyalty. Unlike other construction companies, who rely on a large contingent of sub contractors, A B Canham & Son is powered by full time staff who are employed directly by us.

The A B Canham & Son fleet of branded vehicles and plant machinery are at the disposal of our entire workforce, ensuring materials and tools are where they are needed without delay. Our plant portfolio is also substantial enough to facilitate a plant hire service to outside companies.
